I’ve discovered a lot of new fruits and vegetables just browsing all the local fruit shops since moving to Madrid a few years ago. Turnips have been one of my discoveries, too! I love throwing them into a winter soup for a potato alternative, but I’ll have to try your method to truly celebrate the turnip’s flavor.
I’m glad to hear that you’re recovered from COVID! We had it back in March and chicken soup was also part of our path back to health. Thanks for sharing the chicken and rice soup recipe; I always love adding a new soup to my arsenal!
Quarantine fellow over here 🙋🏻♀️ luckily my sense of taste and smell are still there but as for you I kinda lost my appetite (how sad). Hope you both recover soon, a soup will always help!
Hi Emily. I hope you are on the mend. I think chicken soup is the best thing for Covid and for any cold or flu. I was puzzled by the term CSA but I think this is the same as a farmers market. Does that sound right?
Hey Marg! Back to feeling right as rain, thank goodness. So, a CSA share is similar to shopping from a local farmer's market, but on a sort of subscription model. We pre-pay a certain amount before the growing season begins, and get a 2-person share of veggies every week throughout the season. (I do pick up my share at a weekly farmer's market.) We love it as a way to shop more locally & sustainably, and support the local farming community!
That sounds fantastic. I think we have something similar here in Australia, but not in my town. It’s a good idea to give food growers a regular income.

Europeans really do local produce best!! I'm jealous of just the concept of a local fruit shop. Cheers to health and great turnip inspiration!
